Funny story…so I was reheating some chicken in the toaster this afternoon for lunch and I walked away for a minute while it was cooking. I proceeded to go back to the kitchen after a couple minutes to retrieve the chicken from the toaster oven, but what do I see? Flames shooting out of the toaster oven!!
“Not good,” I thought.
So I was putting out the fire in the toaster when the smoke detector went off. And I’m all like, “I know it’s smoking in here, the toaster is on fire…stop beeping at me!” So I go to push the button on the smoke detector to try to cut it off. It cuts off, so I go back to trying to get the windows and doors open to fumigate the smoke…when the smoke detector goes off again. I go and cut it off again. This happens two more times before I’m really mad at the smoke detector, because it’s not even really smokey or anything. So I had to tear the stupid thing out of the ceiling since there aren’t batteries in the smoke detectors.
Luckily, I got there when I did and was able to put out the fire before anything got destroyed or the building burnt down or something.
So the moral of the story is…don’t use your toaster oven for it’s intended purpose or you’ll probably burn down your house.
We didn’t start the fire, No we didn’t light it, But we tried to fight it
